1. Sounds
Have you ever seen someone shouting \’Hey Siri\’ or \’Hey Google\’into their cell phone? This sound activates the voice recognition feature of the cell phone, so that when you ask the phone a question in English or any other language (unfortunately for Czech speakers), the phone will answer it. If it works on a cell phone, why can\’t it work at home?
Thanks to voice, you can turn on or off the lights in your house, or just dim them, or open the blinds (thanks to preset values, there is even technology that does this on its own). That\’s not all. Want to turn on the TV? Just tell it what you want to watch and the TV will turn on and tune itself out.
2. Remote control
Already have one? remotely lock your car and doors? But these days you can use your cell phone to turn on the washing machine, set the program, squeeze the laundry, and turn on the steaming program if you don\’t feel like ironing. When you get home, all you have to do is take the laundry out of the machine and fold it (unfortunately, you can\’t do that yet). It would be a very long list of all the things you can control with your cell phone, but here are some of the main ones: TV, lights, blinds, lawn mowers, etc.
3. Automation
There are cars that don\’t require you to look in the rearview mirror. And not just from behind. There are cameras on the front and sides of the car as well. So if you\’re not sure if you can park, just let the car itself do it. It is accurate to the millimeter, but unfortunately at the expense of time.
Automation also saves a lot of time, energy, and ultimately money. A smart home can detect for itself whether to turn on the heat, unplug appliances when you are away, or if you forget to turn off the lights when you leave the house.
The features presented here are only a fraction of the possible options. Progress is advancing at an insane pace, and what you think is impossible today may be a reality in a few years.
