"The oldest heavier-than-air flying machine squadron in the world; one that continues to be operational with a history going back to the beginning of the last century and no association to bind its members past and present together; that can't be right?"
Such have been the mutterings amongst those who have served on this illustrious unit and appreciate their unique claim to fame by the very fact of having been counted as one of its number at sometime during its history.
Mutter no longer, for it has happened and an elite group has been formed to fill the void. A group which is pleased to call itself an association and one which provides a point of focus for anyone who in any capacity can proudly say they have served on "Shiny Two".
This Website is just one aspect of support for the association. There is a Newsletter for the benefit of those who do not enjoy Internet access; there are events being planned to which association members will be invited to join; there will be reunions. In short, there is plenty of "Glue" provided to bind like-qualified folks together who otherwise may not have realised there were so many of "us" around!
However, it is this Website which will be visible to the world outside of our unique membership but, even if you aren't "one of us", a forum to which all are invited to share. Here you will find history, photographs, stories, facts and lots of other information you may not have seen before. There is a conduit through which the qualified elite can gain membership. Best of all there is a standing invite for anyone to make their own literary or photographic contributions; it would be grand to hear of your experiences.
So welcome to our site and be prepared for an enlightening experience.
