Wing Commander John Turner - better known as "JT" - took over the command of II(AC) Sqn from Andy Hine.

JT joined the Royal Air Force in June 1988 following service in the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy.   As a junior officer, he served in on No 12 (Bomber) Squadron, RAF Lossiemouth before graduating from the Qualified Weapons Instructors� (QWI) Course.  He then served on No 17 (Fighter) Squadron at RAF Bruggen, Germany during which time he participated in many operations at various locations across the Middle East.

After promotion to Squadron Leader, he served as a Targeteer within the Combined Air Operations Centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and then at the Air Warfare Centre at RAF Waddington where he was responsible for organising composite air training for the RAF�s QWIs.  On returning to flying proper on the Tornado GR4, JT participated in Operation TELIC in March 2003 and for his contribution was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross in the Operational Honours List of Oct 2003.

Promoted to Wing Commander in 2004, JT then undertook the Advanced Command and Staff Course before assuming a staff post at the Development, Concepts and Doctrine Centre, Shrivenham.  He deployed to the Air Support Operations Centre in the NATO Headquarters in Kabul, Afghanistan in 2007 before assuming command of No II (AC) Sqn at RAF Marham on 19 May 2008.
