"Jock" Stirrup became squadron commander on the 31st May 1985. He came to the
squadron from Lossiemouth - where he had been a flight commander on the Jaguar Operational Conversion Unit -
via a spell at the Joint Service Defence College in 1984. He commanded Shiney Two during
the Jaguar era at RAF Laarbruch until March 1987 when he took up the post of Personal Staff Officer to the
Chief of the Air Staff (CAS).
He is the present CAS (December 2004) as well as being the president
of the II(AC) Squadron Association
