15 April 1925 - Sqn Ldr R E Saul


Sqn Ldr Richard Ernest Saul began his Air Force career in June 1916 when he flew as an observer with 16 Sqn (RFC).  He subsequently trained as a pilot and survived the Great War to become, firstly CO of 12 Sqn and then O.C. of No. 1 School of Army Co-operation.

Following these postings he served as a Staff Officer in Iraq at both the HQ High Command and then as part of the Basra Group.  He became Boss of II (AC) Sqn in March 1925 at RAF Manston when the squadron was flying the Bristol Fmk2B.  He handed over to Sqn Ldr Sowrey in January 1927.
