Sqn Ldr Harold Melsome Probyn began his career as a RFC pilot seeing action with various
squadrons throughout the Great War. Following the Armistice he continued with operational
postings both with squadrons in UK and overseas (Ismalia) prior to being posted in February 1926 to the
staff of the School of Army Co-operation. He filled this post for 2 years until 1st April 1928
when he became the boss of II (AC) Sqn then based at RAF Manston flying the Bristol F2b. He then
oversaw the squadron re-equipment to the AW Atlas mk 1.
He handed over to Sqn Ldr Toomer in September
1930. |
