By Heck - its Hector


The Hector was the last of a long line of biplanes designed by Hawker.  The adoption of the in-line Napier Dagger engine caused a change to the centre of gravity and dictated that the elegant swept wing of the Hind ancestor was replaced by a straight design.  However, it was still some 17 mph faster than the AW Atlas whose place it took and, more importantly, faster than a Hawkinge co-located rival fighter squadron!
