Lysander - Famed Spartan General - commander of the Spartan fleet which was victorious against
the Athenians in 405 b.c. A little after that came an aircraft bearing the same name which entered
service with II (AC) Sqn in July 1938. It was the first monoplane type to be flown by the squadron.
